JR Mitaka Station is the gateway to Mitaka City. Musashino City is on the north side of the Tamagawa-josui River that flows under the station, and Mitaka City is on the south side. At the south exit of the station, there is the Mitaka Tourist Information Center and bus terminal, and it is also the starting point of the shopping street leading south and the Kazenosanpomichi to Inokashira Park and Ghibli Museum, Mitaka.
